Top 10 List - Grand Daddy I.U - Smooth Assassin

Seeing I confused our 2 readers with my Redman joke it made sense to keep it simple. It gets no simpler than some dope album reviews of a few of my favorite albums.

I'm going to set this off with a Cold Chillin’ album that gets a bit over looked Grand Daddy I.U - Smooth Assassin.

This cat is smooth as butter and even smoother than that if you can think of some real smooth shit. Grand Daddy I.U makes Big Daddy Kane sound like Nine with a throat infection singing through a vocoder recorded into a Tandy mic (I think you get the picture). The U sets the album off with telling you just how smooth is is on 'The U Is Smooth'

Production is completely handled by Biz Markie most loops are pretty busted and were busted in 1990 when it dropped but Biz Mark gets diabolical on the boards and flips these busted loops better than any before him.

Grand Daddy I.U pretty much sticks to the standard shit lyrically it's either battle raps or how he sexes women up. That’s my kinda shit right there, he even throws in a line about slapping a chick for having bad breath on 'Girl In The Mall', this track isn't on the vinyl only featuring on the CD and tape. Not sure who else would make a track about their dick not touching the sides, most rappers would be all about how their dick is bigger than a horses. That makes me think, when I am finished with my Top 10 albums I am going to write up a few tracks that tribute the dick.

The one other track that deserves a mention is the remix to 'Something New'. Biz Markie sings the hook, and replaces 3 chicks who sing on the album version. Anything that Biz sings on gets all 5 stars from me. It’s only on the B Side of the ‘Something Smooth’ 12” but it wouldn’t really fit on the album anyway. You thought MC Ricky D was a shocking crooner Biz Mark makes my dog howl on this one.

The U went on to make a second album 'Lead Pipe' which goes down as the worst sophmore effort in history. Instead of rapping about being smooth the U decided that slanging crack was more his steeze. He did make a dope guest appearence on Big L 'Da Graveyard' along with Jay Z, Lord Finesse, Party Ardy & Mic Nut before disappearing into the rap void.

happy valentines day

Happy Valentines day. Go and buy your cards and your flowers to appease the gods of gift shopping. Sad married men everywhere are excited today because they will *probably* be having sex tonight. I can see their childish exuberance now. Its sickening. Making little jokes with their office colleages, giggling like idiots... all because tonight they might get their fuck on. Wow. They are probably shit at it. When your life gets to the point that the woman you love only blesses you with that sweet sweet punani on special occassions, then its time to fuck that bitch off and buy a sports car.

On another note. The new Layla album, Heretik, is excellent. I have been saying it for a long time - Layla is one of the best MC's in this country, male or female. Check this CD out. Has some dope production, guest appearances by other members of Syllaboliks, and a photo of Layle in the inner sleeve if you are a pervert. There are a couple of tracks that are kind of WTF? (there is one where Layla and Daz are rapping about being ants...) - but if you are fucked in the head like I am, then this only adds to the appeal.

Also the new Copperpot album, Chapter 7 is dope. This is available on Vinyl aswell which is excellent if you are really really cool like me and only buy vinyl. We all know that CD's just aren't hip hop. However tape cassettes are about the realest thing out at the moment - Just ask Bam

"If you listen to tape cassettes you can come and eat at my house"

Yeah word Bam, thanks man.

Redman Murdered In His New York Home !!!!

Excerpt from N.Y Times

Tragedy strikes the hip hop world today when it was heard Reggie Noble AKA Redman was found murdered in the bedroom of his New York home. New York police have surveillance footage taken from inside Redman’s home but are still having trouble locating the suspect. "We are very sure we will locate the suspect shortly" a NYPD spokesman said, "This was a very gruesome murder and we will do our utmost to find the perpetrator of this act".

It is thought that this may of come after Redman fired some lyrical shots at the person who is suspected of the crime, whose' name is still suppressed from the media. Method Man a long time rap partner of Redman said, " This beef shit is crazy, this time it has gone too far. To murder someone in the safety of their own home over this bullshit. I will truly miss Redman he was like a brother".

This is the track when he dissed the alleged murderer.

Redmans' Lyrical Fire

Here is the photo taken by surveillance cameras in Redmans' home.

The second layer of hell is live jazz fused with faget freestyles

Yes, the regular drunk now has a place to air his grievances.

I have nothing constructive to add today besides the following -

I've decided I need to smoke weed purely because I want to start a rap crew called 'The Usual Suspects' and mc under the name 'Herbal Kent'.

Also the new 50 cent tape is great. Yeah I said it.

That is all.
