2 Things....

1. We are back on air TONIGHT. Listen in. I'd love to say that we had some massive comeback special and shit, but we dont. Haha. They wont let us have guests, and we didn't manage to organise anything pre-recorded on the notice we had. Its our own fault for being slack, i mean - we did have 2 weeks. But you know how it goes, working and general living has this habbit of getting in the way. But we do have a bunch of new music to play, and I might see if I can find some tidbits to bring in that you may not of heard before.

2. Massive congratulations to our good friends and fellow Certified Wise members, DJ's Staen One and Snair. Who have put in an excellent showing at the Australian DMC finals and secured 1st and 2nd positions respectively. Thats an awesome result, 2 South Australian DJ's taking out the top spots, and we here at the Premium Blend would like to congratulate both the guys on their achievement. Staen has now taken out the top spot at the Australian DMC's for 3 years running! He will now go on to represent Aus at the world finals, and we would like to wish him the best of luck.

Filmclip: KMD - Peachfuzz

KMD should really need no introduction, but for some of you Hip Hop new comers I'll throw down a little knowledge.

Well before MF Doom place a metal mask on his face he was known as Zev Love X from KMD with other group members Onyx and Zeb's brother Dj Subroc. Zev Love X's first appearance was with 3rd Bass on Gas Face the two groups (KMD & 3rd Bass) went on to collaborate on a few tracks. KMD's first album MR Hood is an undeniable classic, one of the esential records from the 'golden age'. KMD's follow up record Black Bastards was shelved by Electra due to some controversial cover art (the recent release of it had the original artwork). Shortly after the shelving of Black Bastards DJ Subroc was killed in a car accident and Zev Love X disappeared until 99 when he came back trading his high top fade for a metal mask.

Please excuse the quality of this clip it came from vhs.

Isn't this great !!!!

This is truely marvelous news, we should be back to air on the 15th of September in the same timeslot. I'm sure no one will be listening due to us being off air for the last zillion years, but trust me when I say we are going to come back with a bang !!!!!!!

Stay tuned for more updates but this is looking pretty likely.

Also big ups to Headlizzle for holding this blog down for the last month, well done mang.

Present Tense

Remember Present Tense? If you were into Australian Hip Hop before the year 2000, then you might remember their debut CD - "presentation". I guess you could probably classify it as a Demo, it was sold hand to hand hustle style and out of a few shops that appreciated this shit before it was on the radio. No professional artwork or photoshoots with mirrors and expensive lighting here, just good music recorded on a budget and plonked on a CD. Just the way I like it. For those of you who dont know who I'm talking about, Present Tense are out of Canberra and consist of 2 MCs (Freelance and Plan B) and one DJ (38). 38 Picks up most, if not all (bit foggy on that) of the production duties also. They've been doing shows around the traps, and also appeared on the Culture of Kings 2 compilation, which is also a great track. I recently spoke to 38 to see what they've been up to and I'm pleased to say that the guys are still doing their thing, and you can expect a new album from them late 2005 / early 2006. More info as it developes. For now though, please have a listen to one of the tracks off of Presentation - "I walk around", which is my personal favourite of the CD.
